A Young Engineer Prize for IMS PhD student at EuMW 2026

Sujeevan Vigneswaran has been awarded the Young Engineer Prize at the 29th European Microwave Week, held in London.

Each year, the European Microwave Week brings together the international microwave, RF, wireless and radar community to share the latest technological developments, research findings, and initiatives in the field.

During this 2026 edition, Sujeevan Vigneswaran presented his PhD research, carried out within the framework of the France 2030 program and the NF-YACARI project / PEPR Réseaux du Futur, in collaboration with UMS – United Monolithic Semiconductors.

Sujeevan’s work enabled the fabrication of a first power amplifier (PA) using GaN technology. This PA incorporates, for the first time, hybrid couplers patented by researchers from the IMS laboratory.
The results were presented in the paper “A Twisted Hybrid Coupler-Based Balanced Power Amplifier in 150 nm GaN for 5G Applications” and earned Sujeevan the Young Engineer Prize.

This award, sponsored by HENSOLDT, recognizes young researchers and engineers who have presented an outstanding paper at the European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference (EuMIC), held as part of the European Microwave Week (EuMW). A leading event in the field of radio-frequency and microwave integrated circuits, EuMIC brings together the sector’s most innovative academic and industrial players.
