Solène VILFROY will defend her thesis on July 4th 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Amphi JP. DOM from the IMS laboratory on the subject : “Runway segmentation and localisation using millimetric radar”.
The aim of this thesis is to improve the safety and fluidity of approach and landing maneuvers by developing a solution based on Machine Learning and the use of 4D radar data. In the complex and regulated context of aviation, where the final approach to a flight represents a critical challenge, this solution aims to predict the location of the aircraft in relation to the landing runway, while providing a visualization of the environment by detecting characteristic elements of the approach scene. To meet the requirements of air navigation standards, the supervised learning model developed incorporates statistical guarantees, thus ensuring the reliability of predictions.
