THESIS DEFENSE of Harmony RONDELUK - November 21, 2025

Harmony RONDELUK will defend her thesis on November 21, 2025 at 2pm in the amphitheater 1 at ENSMAC, on the subject: Conception of organic photovoltaic cells based on bio-sourced polymers.

This thesis focuses on the synthesis of new bio-based π-conjugated polymers derived from furan for applications in organic electronics, particularly in photovoltaics.
Two approaches were explored: electropolymerization, enabling the direct deposition of polymer films onto conductive substrates, and microwave-assisted synthesis of poly(azomethine)s, promoting a more sustainable chemistry.
The resulting materials exhibited suitable electronic band gaps and were successfully integrated as charge transport layers in organic photovoltaic cells, showing promising performance compared to conventional reference materials.
Finally, their end-of-life was investigated through degradation, biodegradation, and life cycle analyses, revealing for some polymers a significant biodegradation capacity and a reduced environmental impact.
