Researchers of organic electronics group in collaboration with the chemists at RIKEN (Japan) reported record high mobility single crystal organic field effect transistors.  In their work, the sandwich herringbone structure of pyrene was effectively “manipulated” by four-fold methylthiolation to realize a new-type of a brickwork packing structure, which turned out to be an ideal channel material for single-crystal organic-field-effect transistors, showing ultra high mobility and band-like transport down to 230 K. Their work was published in Advance Materials (impact factor: 30.8) and selected for the cover of the journal.
